Exercise, Fitness Program to Begin at Dimmitt Oct. 9BELLEAIR - An exercise and fitness program conducted by an experienced trainer is being offered at the Dimmitt Community Center beginning October 9. NJ Moreno, a Belleair Beach resident, will conduct the program which she calls REACT (Reshaping Exercise and Complete Training) and which is designed to maintain a high level of health. Moreno believes that her fitness program contributes to the "core health" of an individual which depends on strong abdominals and strong back muscles and addresses such ailments as high blood pressure, diabetes and other life threatening diseases. The program, which will be conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 9 a.m., will incorporate aerobics, weight training, yoga and pilates. Moreno has more than 30 years of experience as an instructor and personal trainer, with most of her clients being professional athletes and dancers. She developed and instituted corporate fitness programs for Volvo, A&P, BMW and Mercedes Benz. She inaugurated the certification program to train and test fitness instructors. Moreno strongly disputes the idea that using weights can make a woman's body bulky. "Not true," she says. "When used properly they add to health." "As a person ages there is a change in how body weight is carried," she says. "This can play a role in various problems that arise like blood pressure and the whole cardiovascular system." Exercise also plays an important part in healthy bone density. Bone loss is a key factor as people age, Moreno says. For information, call the Dimmitt Community Center at 588-3769.
