
The Haven of RCS Recognizes National Domestic Violence Awareness Month With 6th Annual Faces LunchThe Faces of Domestic Violence Awareness Lunch is designed to educate our community about domestic violence and its toll on all areas of life. The event will take place on October 5th at the Father Thomas Comny Center located on the grounds of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dunedin and will last exactly one hour. Doors open at 11:30 and lunch begins at noon. The lunch will feature speaker Tiffany Car , who serves as the Executive Director of Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV), the statewide professional association representing Florida's 42 certified domestic violence centers. Ms. Carr serves as the primary individual responsible for advocating to the legislature for the passage of critical public policy initiatives and securing additional funding for Florida's centers. She previously served on the board of directors of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Network to End Domestic Violence. Masters of Ceremony will be Tampa Bay Magazine's Margaret Word Burnside and Aaron Fodiman. There are nearly ten thousand reports of domestic violence in Pinellas County each year. Additionally, domestic violence costs American businesses $727 million annually in lost productivity. Everyone is invited to this very important event to raise awareness about domestic violence. Business leaders are encouraged to attend and learn how they can make a difference. The proceeds from the event benefit The Haven of RCS Domestic Violence Center which provides safe shelter, legal advocacy, counseling and outreach services for survivors of domestic violence and their children.
