Beach Walk Construction Updateprovided by the City of ClearwaterAs Beach Walk construction continues, the Ford Ironman World Championship 70.3 also approaches. In preparation for the event, the Pier 60 parking lot and the attendant parking lot at Coronado Drive and First Street will close to the public beginning Nov. 5. The Pier 60 lot will reopen on Nov. 12th; the attendant lot will reopen on the 13th. Numerous directional signs on Coronado Drive and Gulfview Boulevard have been placed at strategic locations to direct pedestrians to the beach. More definitive signs are on order and should be posted within a week. All are reminded to use caution in construction zones. The "old" Gulfview Boulevard will be removed in two or three weeks. When that happens, vehicular access will be maintained to those requiring it. Nov. 10 is race day for the Ford Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater. If you would like more information about the event such as road and lane closures, shuttles and parking, call 562-INFO or go to the Ironman section of the city's website at www.myclearwater.com/ironman. The next Hard Hat Meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 6, 9:30 a.m. at Shephards Beach Resort, 619 Gulfview Blvd. The targeted date for substantially completing the Beach Walk project is before Super Bowl 2009.
