Largo Historical Society Extends Invite to '50s PicnicPhoto by SANDI FAHY
Largo Historical Society president Elmer Williams, left, and member Jim Strigle proudly point to one of the new display cases at the Largo Historical Society Museum at the Historic Feed Store in Largo during the group's Open House on October 6. When the Largo Downtown Main Street Association disbanded a while back, it contributed $3200 for materials for the project, Williams said. Former association member Thaddeus Pollard, now in his 80s, designed and built eight of the cases for the museum. The Historical Society is holding its 11th Annual Largo Fifties Picnic at Taylor Park on November 10. All persons who lived in Largo during the '50s are invited to attend. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share along with their own plates, eating utensils and beverages. For more information on the event, call 531-1804.
