Pumpkin Carving Contest is a Hollowing Event

Photos/text by Sandi Fahy

"Agape", the golden retriever pictured with Grace Peay at back, doesn't want to be left out of the fun at Indian Rocks Beach Civic Auditorium on October 27. Seated, from left, are Chloe Folce, 4, Liz Folce, Bob DeBaker and Henry Folce, 6, who are having a "doggone" good time at the annual Pumpkin Carving Contest sponsored by the City of Belleair Beach and City of Indian Rocks Beach Parks & Recreation Board. Many of the children attending returned that evening to visit the Haunted House on site, where games and a costume parade were also on the agenda.

Megan Simmons, 6, at right front, knew what she wanted to do with her pumpkin when she arrived at Indian Rocks Beach Civic Auditorium for the annual Pumpkin Carving Contest the morning of October 27. She had already decided to make a witch, using the pumpkin as a head. The result of her efforts can be seen above. At left, front, is her brother Austin, 9, who was working on a scary one-eyed pumpkin prior to the photo. Looking on at back are the youngsters' parents, Louis and Tracey Simmons.
