Belleair Causeway Bridge Progress Viewable Via Interactive Web Cam

As construction activities progress on the Belleair Bridge Causeway, Pinellas County takes you right to the action with the use of a new interactive Web cam. Log on to www.belleaircausewaybridge.com and click on the Belleair Web Cam on the bottom left-hand side.

A live camera shows in real time the construction operations of the Belleair Causeway Bridge. Camera views can be adjusted to watch from the north, south, east and west, and includes the option to zoom.

Work continues to accelerate and initial benchmarks are being made on the new Belleair Causeway Bridge construction, which began on March 29, 2007. One milestone is currently under way: the state-of-the-art installation of the beams and bridge deck, a new process which represents an approximate savings of $250,000.

Since opening in 1950, the existing Belleair Causeway Bridges have served as a key access route to the 20-plus miles of pristine Pinellas County beaches. However, the antiquated bridges have reached their lifespan capacity and are due to be replaced. The new Belleair Causeway Bridge represents an extensive construction project and a multi-million dollar investment in local communities. It is funded, in part, through Penny for Pinellas dollars and is slated for completion in the spring of 2010.
