American Legion Auxiliary Holds FundraiserPhoto by SANDI FAHY
Members of Heisler-Johnson Unit #119 American Legion Auxiliary in Largo held a rummage and bake sale on November 3 to raise funds for the shipping of boxes to our troops in Iraq. Pictured above (from left) are first vice president Sue Heisler, Sue Gibbia, historian Gina Schroeder and president Marliene Hardman. Hardman said the ladies will also be sending out some 900-1000 Christmas cards to the men who are serving our country. Members are currently distributing red, handcrafted poppies honoring America's war dead. "Poppy Days" pays tribute to the veterans who have died in the last 86 years. Monies from donations to this project are used to fund programs for veterans at Bay Pines V.A. Medical Center.
