By Renee Burrell

"It was an amazing experience," said Soozy Naylor of training and participating in The Tampa Bay Walk for a Cure. For her extraordinary efforts and enthusiasm, Naylor was nominated and won the honor of being a flag bearer in The Walk's opening ceremony in Sand Key Park, October 19

The Beach Butterflies, a group of four Clearwater area businesswomen walked for the cure the weekend of October 19-21 and in so doing raised thousands for breast cancer research. The power team's leader, Soozy Naylor, owner of Key West Express in Clearwater Beach, personally raised $7,500. She said, "We helped Tampa Bay total 5.4 million. We were so grateful for the feature in The Gazette before the walk. It brought us not only financial support, but also emotional support, which we needed. Thank you to all who sponsored us."

Other team members were Carla Chorley, owner of Toucan Tango; Valerie Zino, owner of Jonique Day Spa; and Kriss Gleason, of Key West Express.

The Beach Butterflies walked a total of 60 miles and camped out in pink tents throughout the weekend.

Naylor said she trained by walking over 1,000 miles prior to The Walk.

And she's going to do it again. "I signed up to be a team leader for next year! It was so rewarding. I can honestly say it was one of the biggest highlights of my life. We were all changed for the better from the experience."
