North Ward Honors Military

Students at North Ward Elementary were invited to bring a family member who is now serving or who previously served in the military to the school's Veteran's Day Celebration on November 9. Among the servicemen being honored during a special ceremony are (pictured from right) Austin Kropp, who is currently serving in the U.S. Army; David Sharp, a veteran of the British Army who was attached to U.S. Army Special Forces in Korea; Grant Raulerson, U.S. Army veteran, who served in Korea; 1st Sgt. Edward Knight, who is currently serving in the U.S. Army; and David Bostick, U.S. Coast Guard veteran and member of the North Ward staff. Sharp is saluting Clearwater High School Marine Corps JROTC Lt. Sgt. Angel Cruz, who assisted principal Sandy Cowley with the presentation of certificates for "Outstanding Citizenship and Service to the United States of America" to each of the 20 honorees.

Principal Sandy Cowley welcomed the veterans and other military in attendance and read a proclamation signed by President George Bush. The honorees, who came forward as the military anthems of each branch of service were played, were John Bell, USAF; Cheryl Bishop, USMC; David Bostick, USCG; Robert Caig, USN; Jimmie Davis, USAF; Marcus Gonezkowski, USAFSO; Clyde Harris, USMC; Nashun Harris, USA; Sean Harris, USA; Wilbur Hieir, USAF; James Jones, Jr., USAF; Edward Knight, USA; Austin Kropp, USA; Larry Logan, USN; Grant Raulerson, USA; James Sadler, USA; Donald Scott, USN; David Sharp, British Army; Ken Strickland, USAF; and Charley Williams, USAF. Bell, Bishop, Bostick and Logan are members of the North Ward staff.
