Beach Walk Construction Updateprovided by the City of ClearwaterBeach Walk construction continues on schedule. The sand/seat wall is almost done on the beachside promenade, and the area with the game board is at least 75 percent complete. Construction of the South Gateway Plaza is well underway. Phase III roadway and promenade work is in process and Nelson Construction is beginning stabilization work in both areas. Underground utility work is at least 95 percent complete. The sidewalk on the east side of Gulfview Boulevard has been poured from Fifth Street north. Fifth Street should be used to access businesses that cannot be accessed from Coronado Drive now that Gulfview Boulevard is closed. Two electronic digital speed limit boards are being installed on Coronado Drive. A radar beam is sent out from the board that tells drivers how fast they are going. The sign flashes red if drivers exceed the speed limit by five miles per hour or more. One of the boards will be south of First Street for southbound traffic and the other will be south of Fifth Street for northbound traffic. The next Beach Walk Hard Hat Meeting will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center, 69 Bay Esplanade. The targeted date for substantially completing the Beach Walk project is before Super Bowl 2009. Visit www.myclearwater.com/beachwalk for more information or call 562-4681. |
