Commercial Vehicle Checkpoint Successful On December 4, a Commercial Vehicle Checkpoint was conducted at the Starkey Road recycling center (1551 Starkey Road). This event was a joint effort of the Largo Police Department, D.O.T. Motor Carrier Compliance Office, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Clearwater Police Department, Pinellas Park Police Department and the St. Petersburg Police Department. As a result of the enforcement efforts: 167 uniform traffic citations were issued. 9 physical arrests were made for warrants and driving on suspended driver's licenses. 47 vehicles were weighed and 3 received weight citations. 10 vehicles were taken out of service. 2 drivers were taken out of service. The Largo Police Department would like to thank all of the agencies involved in making this checkpoint a success. A special thanks is also extended to the media which helped promote our efforts to keep our streets safe.
