Channel Change for Pinellas County Government TV Pinellas 18

Pinellas County citizens: reprogram your remote

Pinellas County government television is movin' up! On Tuesday, Dec. 11, Pinellas 18 will be moved on Bright House Networks lineup from Channel 18 to Channel 622. Programming includes live, gavel-to-gavel coverage of Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) meetings and work sessions, monthly BCC public hearings and monthly Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) public hearings. The station will simulcast on both channels 18 and 622 through Dec. 11.

Bright House Networks made significant changes to its channel lineup in Tampa Bay that affects all government and education channels in the seven-county area. Knology customers will continue to view Pinellas 18 on Channel 18. Verizon customers will soon see the county channel on Channel 44.

Pinellas 18 presents a playback of each commission meeting beginning the following day at 7 p.m. and again on Sundays at 8 a.m. These meetings are streamed live and archived on the Internet at www.pinellascounty.org/media/default.htm. Other Pinellas 18 programming includes Inside Pinellas, a weekly snapshot of county news and activities; Good Business Pinellas, spotlighting area business news; and Progressive Pinellas, which takes a look at the issues people are currently discussing. The citizen-popular Pick-A-Pet program features lovable pets available for adoption at Pinellas County Animal Services. This month, viewers can also enjoy a look back at the Pinellas Folk Festival at Heritage Village.

To continue watching Pinellas 18 on Bright House Networks, cable customers must have a digital cable box or a television with a QAM digital receiver. Basic cable customers with a cable wire that comes directly from the wall into the television or VCR must order a new converter box for each TV from Bright House Networks. The cost for each converter box is $1 a month. Bright House Networks will not charge an installation fee. The public can order a converter box by calling Bright House Networks customer service at (727) 329-5020.

Although Channel 622 is among Bright House Networks' high definition programming, viewers do not need a high definition television to watch Pinellas 18.
