Sign up for Living History Winter Break Camp at Heritage VillageWith the holiday season just around the calendar, now is the best time to sign up for the Living History Winter Break Camp at Heritage Village in Largo. Two fun and different weeks are planned with hands-on activities to keep children ages 5 to 11 exploring a slice of life from long ago. Sign up for one day or for all six days of hands-on history. Week 1: Dec. 26, 27 and 28 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Shiver Me Timbers camp focuses on making and finding historical treasures of Pinellas coastal living. Campers will enjoy sponge painting, making a fishing pole, building a model boat and learning about nautical life. Week 2: Jan. 2, 3 and 4 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Pioneer Winter camp unveils the life of an early settlement family. Campers will have fun setting up camp, punching tin, working the garden, gathering herbs and playing old-time games. The Living History Week Break Camp fee is $40 per day, or campers can buy two days and get the third free. Members of the Pinellas County Historical Society receive a discount. Pre-paid registration is required. To register, call (727) 582-2426 or e-mail heritagevillage@pinellascounty.org.
