Beach Walk Construction Updateprovided by the City of ClearwaterAs Beach Walk construction continues, old and new Gulfview Boulevard remains closed to all traffic between the south project limits and Pier 60. New Gulfview Boulevard remains open from Coronado Drive to the Pier 60 parking lot. Drainage work at the Hess Station will begin near Bayway and Gulfview in the near future. One lane will be open for traffic in each direction and a flagman will be working to help direct travelers. Trail work at the Pier 60 entrance will begin soon and will require some re-routing for pedestrians at the Pier 60 entrance. The route will be clearly marked and pedestrians are reminded to use crosswalks at all times. Two electronic digital speed limit boards on Coronado Drive are in place to remind drivers to obey the speed limit. A radar beam sent out from the board tells drivers how fast they are going. The sign flashes red if drivers exceed the speed limit by five miles per hour or more. One of the boards is south of First Street for southbound traffic and the other is south of Fifth Street for northbound traffic. The next Beach Walk Hard Hat Meeting will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center, 69 Bay Esplanade. The targeted date for substantially completing the Beach Walk project is before Super Bowl 2009. Visit www.myclearwater.com/beachwalk for more information or call 562-4681. |
