Meet the Mayoral CandidatesCLEARWATER - Clearwater residents are invited to attend the 2008 Candidates Forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16. Incumbent Mayor Frank Hibbard and challenger Rita Garvey will discuss the issues facing Clearwater in Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall, 112 South Osceola Ave. The event will be cablecast live on C-VIEW TV with replays continuing through Election Day. Joe Childs, Managing Editor of the Clearwater Times, will moderate the discussion. The city's election Tuesday, Jan. 29, is held in conjunction with the Presidential Primary. Clearwater voters will determine who will be Mayor on the City Council, and vote on a number of changes to the City Charter. Councilmembers George Cretekos and John Doran are deemed elected to the City Council since no opponents filed to run against them. To request an absentee ballot, call the Supervisor of Elections at (727) 464-6788. The Supervisor of Elections must receive absentee ballots by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
