He has participated in the Great American Teach-In for 20 years, chaired the Palm Harbor Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and the chamber's foundation board, which focuses on educational scholarships, and has participated in the PTA or advisory councils at East Lake High School, Carwise Middle School, and Highland Lakes Elementary.

Active in his community, Peluso was elected as a Fire Commissioner for the Palm Harbor Fire District in 2002 and reelected in 2004. He has served as an officer and member of countless other community organizations.

"I have long worked for the betterment of our schools and our community. I believe I can bring a well-rounded community and business background to the Pinellas School Board. This is an important role. As the parent of one graduate and one current student of Pinellas County public schools, I know there are many challenges facing our school system..

"Our number one objective must always be to provide our children the best possible educations, to prepare them for successful futures. To do that, we must make sure we have competent, motivated personnel in our classrooms and throughout the school system. And finally, we are always accountable to the taxpayers for how we utilize the resources they provide for our schools. As a school board, we must deliver results to all of these important stakeholders."

Peluso, 51, is a 22 year resident of Pinellas County, who lives and works in Palm Harbor. He and his wife, Julie, have two children, Andrew and Steven.
