Beach Walk Construction Updateprovided by the City of ClearwaterOld and new Gulfview Boulevard remains closed to all traffic between Pier 60 and the south project limits. The beachside promenade is open and is being used by beachgoers. New Gulfview Boulevard is open from Coronado Drive to the Pier 60 parking lot. Construction on two frontage roads is underway. Curbing is in, and the entire 2-inch asphalt structural course for the project is installed with the final 1-inch surface course of asphalt remaining to be installed. Nelson Construction is moving along with other activities including landscaping, dune planting, and installation of showers and fountains. Work near the Hess Station will be finished in about two weeks. Drivers are reminded to use caution and obey the speed limit. Pedestrians are asked to use crosswalks at all times. The next Beach Walk Hard Hat Meeting will be 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the new Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, 521 South Gulfview Blvd. The targeted date for substantially completing the Beach Walk project is before Super Bowl 2009.
