LARGO - Each year since 1975, Clearwater Alumnae Panhellenic has sponsored a major event to raise funds for scholarships which are awarded in May to up to five sorority women. Recipients are selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, participation in chapter and campus activities, personal goals, initiative and financial need. The number of scholarships and amount given is dependent upon the monies raised. February 28 is the date set aside for this year's fundraiser. Panhellenic Premier Night, which will take place at the Largo Cultural Center, 105 Central Park Drive, will feature the musical, "Mame". The public is invited. Tickets, which are $25, may be purchased in person at the center's box office or by calling the box office at 587-6793. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the Chinese auction scheduled. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Applications are still being accepted for the scholarships which will be presented at the group's May Brunch at Carlouel Yacht Club. Installation of officers is also slated at that time. Sorority women from Pinellas and Pasco counties currently enrolled at a college or university in or out of state are eligible to apply. Deadline for submission is April 1. The scholarship committee is composed of Betty O'Shea, Sigma Kappa; Mary-Ann Janssen, Kappa Alpha Theta; Gloria Hollingsworth, Alpha Chi Omega; and Joyce Metcalf, Chi Omega. Call O'Shea at (727) 372-1704 for more information.
