BELLEAIR - Belleair Country Club will be the setting for the General Federation Woman's Club of Clearwater 7th Annual High Tea and Fashion Show on Saturday, February 23. The event, which is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., is the club's biggest fundraiser of the year. Members hope to raise some $5,000, which will help fund the scholarships which will be awarded to five students in the Women on the Way program at St. Petersburg College.

Among those modeling fashions from T.J. Maxx in the show are the intended recipients of the scholarships. They are Chivon Cowart, JoAnn Gregg, Paula Holmes, Amy Jammer and Diane Preston. Tickets, which are $30, are available by calling 588-0408 or 443-5071. A full lunch with dessert will be served. There will also be door prizes and an "opportunity to win" drawing.

The awarding of scholarships has been a priority of the club for many years. Members have also supported a number of other charities in the community over the years. They include the Clearwater Free Clinic, Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Hospice and The Haven, Grace House and Food Bank operated by Religious Community Services.

The General Federation Woman's Club of Clearwater was founded and federated in 1914. Its purpose was "to have a general interest in our community, in activities in the sphere of woman's work, and in the charitable and educational life of Clearwater." Current officers are Michelle Lowack, president; Tammy Harkins, 1st vice president; Patti Cain, 2nd vice president; Irene Cuerdon, recording secretary; Doris Todd, corresponding secretary; and Carolyn Brown, treasurer. Crystal Stultz is scholarship chairman.
