Recs and Reads

By Anne McKay Garris

If one of your New Year's resolutions was to "play more," or even if it wasn't, you don't want to miss the second Game Night at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27.

Whether you are a Dominoes shark, or don't have a clue but want to learn, come share your Dominoes (or chess, or checkers, or cards, etc.) enthusiasm with one of your neighbors. Bring a friend, or find one or two when you get there, to spend a pleasant evening playing with. Visitors to the community are welcome to participate and there is no age limit. Bring the family! You might even want to take on a teenager at chess and get even for the fact that they could beat you if it was electronic.

So, to play your favorite game, or learn a new one, be among the adventuresome people at the Game Night on the 27th. The Friends Of The Clearwater Beach Recreation Center/Library are planning more if the neighborhood indicates they are interested.

There will be construction started soon at the Recreation Center to make room for a more permanent library in the center, but "The Friends" plan to schedule interesting activities right up to construction time and beyond, if possible. Plans now are for the construction to be finished and the library installed by the end of May.

Meantime, volunteers are still needed to spend one afternoon a month helping out at the library. It's a pleasant way to spend an afternoon, so stop by and put your name on the list. You'll find the library right there next door to the Recreation Center, on Bay Esplanade, just behind the tennis courts.

See you at Game Night . . . Ping Pong anyone?
