GLEANINGS FROM THE SCRIPTURES
WHAT TO CONSIDER…
WHEN YOU SEE A BEAUTIFUL GIRL
By Keith L. Estes
Commands To Keep Before Your Eyes- “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them (before his eyes), he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." (Jn. 14:21)
1. I WILL GUARD MY HEART.
"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." (Prov. 4:23)
2. I WILL REALIZE THAT GOD IS WATCHING ME.
"The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good." (Prov. 15:3)
3. I WILL NOT LUST AFTER HER BEAUTY.
"Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent." (Prov. 6:25-29)
4. I WILL REMEMBER THAT LUST IS ADULTERY.
"Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell." (Matt 5:27-29)
5. I WILL ESCAPE LIFELONG CONSEQUENCES.
"For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother that oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell...Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger." (Prov: 3-5, 8-10)
6. I WILL NOT DESTROY MY OWN SOUL.
"But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away." (Prov. 6:32-33)
7. I WILL MAKE A COVENANT WITH MY EYES. (Job: 31:1)
"If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbour's door; Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her. For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges." (Job 31:9-11)
8. I WILL SAVE MY EMBRACES FOR MY WIFE.
"And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins." (Prov. 5:20:22)
