
Volunteers Needed for Two Clearwater CleanupsCLEARWATER - The city of Clearwater will be hosting two cleanups in March and volunteers are needed for the following events: Glen Oaks Park Water & Uplands Cleanup - Saturday, March 1, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, to remove trash, litter, and debris from the waters of Glen Oaks Park and from the park's green spaces. This event kicks off the 2008 Trash Bash. Glen Oaks Park is located at 1345 Court Street in Clearwater. For the water portion of this cleanup, volunteers with canoes and kayaks are needed. Two safety boats will be on hand, provided by Keep Pinellas Beautiful. For the uplands, cleanup portion, volunteers will be provided with trash pickers, trash bags and gloves. Pre-registration is required.
Trash Bash Cleanup - Saturday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to noon. Meet and park at the blacktop parking lot on the Memorial Causeway's southeast side (S.R. 60 to Clearwater Beach) to remove trash and invasive vines growing along the mangrove shoreline. This event is part of the national Great American Cleanup. Wear closed-toed shoes and bring a pair of gardening gloves. Water, tools, supplies and snacks will be provided.
