Herbs Add Flavor to Event

On hand to answer Florida gardening questions at the recent Herbfest at the Pinellas County Extension Sevice are master gardeners (front, from left) Ann Brown, Marian Cirello, Pam Brown, Brenda Payne, (at back, from left) David Delamarter and aspiring master gardener Michael Sharpe. The event featured demonstrations on growing, cooking, drying and storing herbs. Author Monica Brandies contributed a talk on "Accenting Your Lifestyle with Herbs and Spices" and herbalist Willow LaMonte spoke about "Growing Herbs Organically, for Flavor, Nutrition and Beauty." Emily Wenzel, vice president of the Florida Herb Society, was there to provide information on "Flavorable and Nutritional Herbal Teas." An educational tour of the demonstration herb garden was conducted by horticulturist Cindy Peacock.
