
USF Under Armour Series to Bring Top Teams to ClearwaterCLEARWATER - The City of Clearwater is proud to host the USF Under Armour Series, a group of three individual women's softball events that will bring two of the largest NCAA Division I softball tournaments and the US Women's National Team to the Eddie C. Moore Complex. The USF Softball Under Armour Invitational and Showcase, presented by the City of Clearwater and the St. Petersburg Clearwater Sports Commission, will be held over two weekends, March 6 - 9 and March 14 - 6, 2008. The first in the Series, March 6 - 9, will be called the USF Under Armour Invitational and boast 24 of the top Division I softball teams in the country along with the "Bound 4 Beijing" US Women's National Team Tour. The National Team will play six games as part of the Invitation-only tournament as they prepare to defend their Olympic Gold in the Beijing Olympics. The second and final event of the Series, March 14-16, will be the USF Under Armour Showcase which will play host to another 20 highly competitive NCAA Division I softball teams.
All games will be played at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater and tickets are now available online at www.usfseries.com
"Clearwater regularly hosts large scale tournaments because of our diverse and high quality athletic fields. We are especially proud to have the USF tournament because it brings the extra prestige of hosting the USA Softball team," said Kevin Dunbar, Clearwater Parks and Recreation Director. "This event is expected to bring thousands of dollars in hotel nights, restaurant meals and sightseeing excursions to our area."
