It's Time to Register for Spring Break Camp

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Registration for Spring Break Camps at Clearwater recreation facilities is now open. Camps are March 31 through April 4, 2008 and space is limited.

  • Countryside Recreation Center, 2640 Sabal Springs Dr., 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for grades K through 5. Children will participate in various indoor and outdoor games. Themed arts & crafts are scheduled along with a field trip. Registration is limited to the first 50 who sign up. Weekly fee is $67.50 with a play pass; $90 with a recreation card; and $112.50 without a card. Call (727) 669-1914 for more information.
  • Henry L. McMullen Tennis Complex, 1000 Edenville Ave., 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for boys and girls ages 4 through 18. This camp offers youth the opportunity to learn the techniques of tennis in a fun-filled and exciting environment.   • The Long Center, 1501 N. Belcher Rd., 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for grades K through 6. Activities include arts & crafts, sports, goofy games and swimming Campers should bring swim suits, towel, lunch and smile for a week of fun.   • Moccasin Lake Nature Park & Energy Center, 2750 Park Trail Lane, for grades 1 through 6. Structured camp activities are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children are supervised during extended camp hours from 8 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m. The Science and Nature Explorers Safari Spring Camp includes games, crafts, hands-on experiments, mind-tickling demonstrations, animals and nature observations.   • Morningside Recreation Center, 2400 Harn Blvd., 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for grades K through 8. Campers should bring a lunch and drink, and be dressed in comfortable play clothes and shoes. Registration is required. The weekly fee is $60 with a play pass; $80 with a recreation card; and $100 without a card. There is another private school camp that runs from March 20 to 28.   • Ross Norton Recreation Center, 1426 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for grades K through 5. Campers will participate in indoor and outdoor games, arts & crafts and a field trip. Registration is limited to the first 15 who sign up. Call (727) 562-462-6025 for more information. Although the Clearwater Beach Family Aquatic Complex, 51 Bay Esplanade, does not have a Spring Break Camp, it has the only seasonal pool that is open during Spring Break. Hours are noon to 4:45 p.m. every day March 17 to April 20. Extended hours begin April 21. The pool is closed on Easter Sunday, March 23. Call (727) 462-6020 for more information.
