
Clearwater Civitan Seeking MembersThe Clearwater Civitan Club, whose fundraising, community service projects, and members' residences cover all the area of Upper Pinellas County, are seeking additional members. This outstanding local club, as part of the Civitan International over 55 years, is recruiting persons at least 18 years of age, that volunteer to help other people, either in group projects, or as individuals. The Clearwater Civitan Club meets regularly on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Countryside Country Club, 3001 Countryside Blvd., in the lower level of the Clubhouse (Racquet Room). Meeting attendance is not mandatory. Dues are $96 a year. The Clearwater Civitan Club supports and volunteers assistance to the following organizations: Upper Pinellas Association for Retarded Citizens, The Homeless Emergency Project, Watson Center for the Blind, Suncoast Epilepsy Association, Deaf Services Center, Calvin Hunsinger School, Paul B. Stevens School and Clearwater Little League Challenger Team. The Clearwater Civitan Club also supports the following organizations: Horses for the Handicapped, Children's Health Fair, Special Olympics, Meals on Wheels, Las Clinica Guadalupana, and the Kimberly Home. The Clearwater Civitan Club celebrates the service of the Clearwater Police Department and the dedication of the local clergy. The Clearwater Civitan Club Awards scholarships to worthy applicants. The Clearwater Civitan Club offers leadership opportunities, welcomes new ideas and projects, and joins in supporting them to improve the quality of life in our community, state and nation. The Civitan International Research Center, located in the Medical Center of the University of Alabama, Birmingham, is dedicated to brain research and treatment of developmental diseases. Civitan's support of this facility makes volunteerism effective worldwide. Your volunteer effort with the Civitans will make a difference in the world as well.
