City to Celebrate 10th Annual Neighborhoods Week

CLEARWATER - Clearwater's Neighborhood Services Division will host several events as part of the 10th annual Celebrate Neighborhoods Week, March 9 to 16.

Mayor Frank Hibbard will officially recognize the week which honors Clearwater's residents with a March 6 City Council meeting proclamation.

On Wednesday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents will have an opportunity to connect with city officials at a Westfield Countryside Mall City Informational Fair. On the mall's second floor near the food court, representatives from a number of city departments including Police, the Clearwater Library System, Solid Waste, Clearwater Gas and others will staff display tables as they answer questions, offer helpful tips and hand out literature and giveaways.

A Movie in the Park wll be shown on Friday, March 14 at Crest Lake Park. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and picnic baskets to a free screening of the family film, Happy Feet that will begin at sunset.

The culminating event is Neighborhoods Day, Saturday, March 15. Approximately 20 neighborhoods throughout the city are holding block parties that will be visitied by city officials and staff throughout the day. Personnel from Clearwater Police, Fire & Rescue and Solid Waste will be on hand with specialized vehicles and offer guided tours of the equipment. In addition to food and festivities, residents will have an opportunity to bring their concerns directly to city officials as they socialize with neighbors.
