Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisIn spite of being "under construction," the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center rocked and rolled, last Friday night as over 75 people enjoyed the Sock Hop, sponsored by the Friends of The Clearwater Beach Recreation Center and Library. Guys and Gals in sixties attire (including one long-haired "hippy") danced the night away or enjoyed their root beer floats and tapped their feet to familiar tunes. Even those of us too style challenged to wear a costume had a really good time. The age range was from six to ninety-six. Kudos to the hardworking committee who put it on. Next good time co-sponsored by Recreation Center and Clearwater Beach Association is the Easter Egg Hunt to be held tomorrow evening at 6 pm. at Mandalay Park, beside the fire station. Bring the children, their baskets and your camera. Meanwhile, over at our temporary library trailer in the Recreation Center parking lot, City Manager Bill Horne has arranged for three parking spaces to be reserved for library patrons from March 17 through April 15. Be sure and use them frequently. Then maybe we can keep them after Spring Break is over. Note to fellow romance novel fans. You'll find them in the computer room, beside the DVDs.
