Beach Walk Construction Updateprovided by the City of ClearwaterThe two frontage roads and new Gulfview Boulevard are now paved from the south project limits north to the lifeguard station. Installation of amenities, landscaping and irrigation continues in the area around Gulfview Boulevard. Shade structures are in place, and work on the colored concrete crosswalks is also complete. A few sidewalk areas will be completed within the next few days. These activities bring us closer to the opening of Gulfview Boulevard in May. At that time, the eastside promenade will open except for the portion in front of the Hyatt Aqualea construction site. The west side promenade is already open from Pier 60 to the southern limit of the project. At the City Council meeting this week, a proposal to lease the site of the former Adams Mark Hotel for 94 additional temporary parking spaces will be presented. If approved, the spaces will be available for use in June and until the developer moves forward with construction on the site. Once South Gulfview Boulevard opens, work will resume on Coronado Drive. On-street parking, final asphalt and additional lighting will be completed. This final work on Coronado is expected to take 2 to 3 months. The next Beach Walk Hard Hat Meeting will be 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 6 at Shephards Beach Resort, 619 Gulfview Blvd. All work on the $30 million Beach Walk project should be done in July, well ahead of schedule.
