Teens Invited to Sign Up for "Clearwater Rediscovered" Youth Summit

CLEARWATER - The City of Clearwater is seeking 100 high school students to participate in an April 19 interactive youth summit, "Clearwater Rediscovered."

The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is hosted by GotGov!, the city of Clearwater's youth initiative. Teens from 8th to 12th grades who attend a Clearwater school and/or reside in Clearwater are eligible to register.

The summit, a forum for youth to give their views on Clearwater, will also help the city develop future plans for a youth and young professional-friendly city. Participants will meet at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort on Clearwater Beach, where activities will include fun leadership exercises and visioning sessions. Students will also have the opportunity to develop a civic or service project to nurture direct youth involvement in the local community.

The event is free and all materials, breakfast and lunch are included. Participants will also be eligible to win prizes at the event. Students may obtain registration forms online at www.myclearwater.com/gotgov and can return the completed forms to Betsy Clement, Public Communications Department, 100 S. Myrtle Ave., Clearwater, FL 33756 or e-mail the information to gotgov@myclearwater.com. Registrations can also be taken by phone at 562-4664. Students who wish to participate should register no later than April 14.

GotGov! is Clearwater's youth initiative, and teaches young adults about, and involves them in civic affairs and local government efforts. For further information, contact the Clearwater Public Communications Department at (727) 562-4664.
