Linda Platt, right, who served as a cadet nurse with the U.S. Army in World War II, meets reenactor Jennifer Kon at the 2008 World War II & the Swinging 40s event at Heritage Village in Largo on April 5. Kon is wearing an original U.S. Navy WAVES enlisted summer uniform from World World II. A WAVES officer's winter uniform is on display at left. A performance by Dennis Doughman as "FDR" and visits with World War II nurses Hazel Stickney Murphy, Joan Tyrrell Arcand and Lt. Margaret Gibson, NNC, were scheduled along with a WWII combat glider pilot presentation, military fashion show, weapons demonstration, military history displays, living history activities and musical performances, including "A Tribute to the Andrew Sisters" by Bonnie Gray Productions.
