
Hats are the Order of the Day at Belleair Tea Partyby Sandi Fahy

The unique hat worn by Rosanna Wright won a prize BELLEAIR - Over 60 ladies turned out for the Third Annual Mad Hatter's Tea Party hosted by the Belleair Garden Club on April 9. Hats of all sizes, shapes and colors were the order of the day. The event featured a homemade luncheon, Chinese auction and prizes for hats in various categories. Rosanna Wright's hat in the shape of a cruiseship captured the prize for "most creative." Focus of the hat worn by Ruth McClelland was a large white bird resembling a swan. Her creation was deemed "most outrageous." Also winning prizes for their hats were Jan Hofstra ("most elaborate"), Terri Dingwall ("most glamorous") and Dorothy Shuman ("best of show"). The Belleair Garden Club meets October through May at 903 Ponce de Leon Blvd. General meetings take place on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. Horticulture meetings are scheduled the second Wednesday at 10 a.m. The last get-together of the 2007-2008 season will be held at Belleair Country Club on May 7.
