Fred Roush, president of the Sunset Chapter of the American Hibiscus Society, at right, and his wife, Connie, show a variety of colorful hibiscus at a recent meeting at the Largo Public Library. The group meets the third Saturday of each month year-round. The April program focused on hibiscus propagation by air-layering. Persons interested in learning more about the plants with the large showy flowers may call 784-5068.
Donna Sitton, left, and Corinne Arnold, both trustees on the board of the Florida West Coast Orchid Society, examine one of the orchids up for bid at the Annual Orchid Auction at the Historic Largo Feed Store on April 19. Auction items included hybrids and species, prized division plants and blooming and budding orchids. Over 300 orchids were up for grabs. The society is planning an Orchid Show and Sale in October.
