Cadets from Admiral Farragut Academy to Donate "Bears"

ST. PETERSBURG - Sixty students from Admiral Farragut Academy, under the leadership of junior class president, Zach Northcutt, traveled to Build-a-Bear at International Plaza in Tampa on Thursday, May 1, to create custom designed stuffed bears complete with clothing and all the accessories. The students will donate their completed bears to The Haven, a shelter for battered women in Clearwater for kids affected by domestic violence. This is the second year the group organized the event. Each student participant pays for his or her own bear before donating it.

Students at Admiral Farragut Academy are required to complete 80 hours of Community Service in high school and many far exceed that amount.
