Tampa, Fla - Last week, the Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation recognized a number of local businesses that have contributed to the Foundation's goal of making Tampa Bay a better place to live, work and play. Among them was Brighthouse Networks.

The Foundation is dedicated to the support of local organizations that enrich and enhance the lives of those living throughout the community. It focuses its resources to advance amateur hockey and educational enrichment opportunities for children, along with medical research and treatment for those in need.

One of the Foundation's initiatives is support of the Tampa Bay Lightning Sled Hockey program. Sled Hockey gives the physically challenged a chance to play a sport that most able-bodied people find difficult. Sled Hockey is recognized internationally and is part of the Paralympics.

The Lightning Sled Hockey Program is the first of its type in the Tampa Bay area. Team equipment, travel and support are funded by the Foundation and a matching grant from Brighthouse Networks.
