Clearwater Main Library to Host Children’s Banner Exhibit Reception

CLEARWATER – A reception to celebrate The Children’s Banner Exhibit at the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave., will take place Monday, June 2, 6 - 7:30 p.m.

The exhibit of textile inspired banners made by area children will be on display June 1 - Aug. 26 in the Osceola, Carnegie, and Youth Services galleries. Children created two-by-five foot banners, using textiles and techniques such as weaving, felting, dyeing, and sewing. The exhibit will be on display as part of Convergence 2008, an international fiber arts conference being held at the Tampa Convention Center. Youth interested in learning more about this art can attend a foam tray weaving class at the Main Library July 18, 2 p.m.

As part of this summer’s art exhibits, the Pinellas Handweavers Guild will be displaying Creative Hands Connecting Lives in the first floor lobby display cases. The Youth Arts Corp will also be in attendance to talk about their upcoming exhibit.

Additional children’s banners may be viewed during the summer months at the Municipal Services Building, 100 S. Myrtle Ave. For more information, call 562-4970, ext. 5284.
