City of Clearwater Launches its New Environmental Web Site,

CLEARWATER. – In a world focusing on "going green" and protecting the environment, Clearwater is planting the seeds for a greener, cleaner city. The City of Clearwater’s Web site devoted to green topics www.MyClearwater.com/Green, launched Thursday, May 1, and gives web viewers a resource for citywide initiatives, programs, and strategies that the city has implemented to improve Clearwater’s sustainability and livability.
Thirty-five initiatives are featured under eight categories: Conservation, Energy, Environment, Green City Certification, Green Spaces & Play Places, Outreach & Education, Streetscaping, and Water.
A “Think Green Guide” helps visitors discover conservation and personal responsibility tips for the various facets of their active lives. There are tips for in the home, transport, yards, shopping, and the community. The “Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculator” shows users what their household greenhouse gas emissions are from household energy use and waste disposal.
Other areas of environmental interest on the Web site include brownfields, electronic and hazardous waste disposal, green building, living greener with gas, sustainable government, and a resource directory that provides more than 40 links to agencies that focus on energy, environment, green building, recycling, trash, and water.
