Stages Productions and First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks Present The Music Man JuniorLARGO - First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, 12685 Ulmerton Road, Largo, will host Stages Productions’ auditions for “The Music Man Junior” on Monday and Tuesday June 23-24 from 6-8 p.m. in the FC Ambassador Room for kids 6th – 12th Grades. A two-week summer workshop will follow in the Fellowship Center July 7-11 and July 14-18 for a fee of $285. Performances are scheduled for Friday, July 18, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 19, at 11 a.m. also in the Fellowship Center. An American musical classic, Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man” follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall. This award-winning, critically acclaimed Broadway classic is an all-American institution, thanks to its quirky characters, charmingly predictable dramatic situations, and one-of-a-kind, nostalgic score of rousing marches, barbershop quartets and sentimental ballads which have become popular standards. Funny, warm, romantic and touching, “The Music Man” is family entertainment at its best. “The Music Man Junior” is the perfect production for young people with great roles for performers of every level.
