Bahama Bev’s

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH - If you’ve never seen a Sailors’ Valentine, a golden cowrie or a Bahamian sand dollar, then you might want to visit “Bahama Bev’s” at 435 Gulf Blvd. where you’ll find all of these sea treasures in the newest and quite possibly the most unique shell shop in Indian Rocks Beach.

Bahama Bev’s is a seashells/nautical gift shop owned by Bev Dolezal of Sand Key. Bev grew up in Nassau, Bahamas and has been passionate about seashells her entire life. A member of the Conchologists of America and a former president of Clearwater’s shell club (Suncoast Conchologists), she has received numerous awards for her photography and shell exhibits in shows throughout Florida.

“I’m enamoured with anything to do with seashells, so this shop is right up my alley,” says Bev. There is something for all ages in the store, which is lined with baskets of local and foreign seashells.

“I’m also excited about being the first person in Florida to carry Coolibar SPF +50 swim shirts and clothing for those of us who can’t take the sun! My dermatologist recommended this clothing since I spend so much time outdoors and I convinced the online company to let me carry their clothing. They were the first to receive the Skin Cancer Foundation award so I enthusiastically endorse their products.”

As well as creating shell mirrors using hundreds of exotic shells, Bev plans to have shelling trips to the Bahamas and to host bi-monthly shellcraft sessions in the store. In her spare time, Bev is a caregiver for her mother, teaches water aerobics and is a professional photographer, freelancing for the Clearwater Gazette.

Store hours are: 11 - 7 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday 2 – 6 p.m. Sunday (closed Monday)
