
Area Agency on Aging Crime Forum SetLARGO - Experts on crime involving senior citizens will be present at Pinecrest Place, 1150 8th Avenue SW, Largo, on June 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. They will explain ways to recognize scams and exploitation as well as answer questions. Rick Adkins is an investigator for Pinellas County Justice and Consumer Services. This agency of Pinellas County government receives consumer complaints and works with the justice department when laws are broken. Slade V. Dukes, Esq., Elder Consumer Protection Fellow, will represent Stetson University College of Law Center for Excellence in Elder Law. Their interaction with the community provides up to date information on how individuals can protect themselves from crime. Sylvia Gaddis, Area Project Manager for SMP at the Area Agency on Aging will explain how senior citizens can protect themselves from Medicare Fraud and resolve incorrect charges made by providers . Sherri Lanham from the United States Postal Inspection Service will inform the audience on ways to avoid mail scams and fraud as well as counterfeit checks and money orders. A drawing will be held for a door prize.
