Children's Banners On DisplayPhoto by SANDI FAHY
Clearwater Main Library page Debbie Siegel-Furlin, left, and library assistant Laurie Sullivan view the "Cats" banner created by a group of children from the Morningside Recreation Center, one of many textile-inspired works made by children now on exhibit at the library and Municipal Services Building. Youngsters from school, recreation, museum and other arts programs throughout Pinellas and Hillsborough counties were invited to create banners for the exhibition held in conjunction with "Convergence 2008", an international fiber arts conference sponsored by the Handweavers Guild of America. Weaving, felting, dyeing, sewing, crocheting and knitting are some of the textile techniques used for the banners, which will be on display through August 24.
