Leading Ladies Install 2008-2009 Officers and Present Check for Education ProgramsThe Leading Ladies of Ruth Eckerd Hall’s officers for 2008-2009 were installed at a luncheon held at the Carlouel Yacht Club on May 22. Executive officers for the 2008-2009 year are: President, Bridget Meyer; 1stt Vice-President, Gail Agnew; 2nd Vice-President, Jenny Austin; Recording Secretary, Rita Wilson ; Corresponding Secretary, Jeannie Chatani; Treasurer, Charlotte Picker; Assistant Treasurer, Jan Weaver; with the Advisor being Past President, Kelly Machbitz. Out going President Kelly Machbitz and Treasurer Sue Bowles presented a check for $64,000, the proceeds from the 2007-2008 fundraising efforts of Leading Ladies, to President/CEO of Ruth Eckerd Hall and Joyce Bonomini, Director of Education and Community Affairs with the Education Department of Ruth Eckerd Hall. This money will provide education in the performing arts through scholarships, outreach programs, and school attendance at Ruth Eckerd Hall performances. Entertainment was provided by the very talented group of Pinellas County School students, The Ruth Eckerd Hall Teen Performing Troupe, under the direction of Rosann Sheppard. Nick Orfarella acted as MC for the troupe. The group’s main task is to visit and entertain residents and patients in local medical facilities. They also perform at other non-profit events in the area and are presently looking for talented high school students to join the Troupe.
