American Legion Post #119 Auxiliary Happenings

The American Legion #119 Auxiliary wishes to announce a special note of which they are very proud: that of sponsoring two high school girls to travel to Tallahassee for "Girls State", a program where our young people participate in the government proceedings.  Post #119 Auxiliary’s participant, Kristen Evert, Largo High School, was voted first of all entrants in Florida, and will travel to Washington D.C. to participate on a National level.  From there she will further learn more about our government. A hearty cheer goes out to her.

On other items – the Ladies are sending packages to our soldiers, sewing lap robes for the veterans, and plan to collect coupons for families serving overseas.

Coming on Sunday, July 20th, the Auxiliary is planning a Christmas in July, roast pork dinner.  For information, call the American Legion at (727) 584-2038. The public is invited to attend for an enjoyable time!

Also the Ladies wish to thank all who participated in the 1st Annual Post #119 American Legion "Idol" contest which held their suspense these past weeks, culminating with dinner and singing June 29th. A panel of three judges made the pick, the winner being Gloria Blackburn, singing "Proud to be an American" with the whole audience participating.  Prizes of cash and gift coupons were given to all entrants, 2nd and 3rd place, and a three-day holiday to 1st place.

Events on coming Fridays in July are Country and Disco "Kamakazie" contests with prizes to be awarded. So come and enjoy ya 'all! .
