Clock Tower – Letter sent to City of Largo Mayor and CommissionersAfter reading Diane Steinle’s Opinion article in the Times, I feel that we really do not need a fountain at the clock tower. We also do not need any outside company to do the design and landscaping. We already have a wonderful fountain that is not a problem and works just fine. There is a lot of local talent in the city and on staff to do the landscaping design. Our Parks Dept. is more than capable of doing the actual landscaping. A contest for the design with the local citizens is a possibility. A contest with our staff is a possibility. The tower area properly landscaped and lit at night would make the corner a beautiful centerpiece to Largo. (right now it is very shabby and not what we are about) No fountain would eliminate liability, wasted water and higher electrical bills. No skate boarders would eliminate the traffic distraction. Keeping this in house and/or city will enhance city pride. Outside companies do not, and cannot, understand what Largo is really about. Just my thoughts! - Ron Davis
