
Citizens Invited to Citizen Police AcademyCLEARWATER - Are you interested in how your local police department operates? Did you ever wonder why and how police do the things they do? Well here is your chance to find out. The Clearwater Police Department begins its next 12-week Citizen Police Academy on August 6 and will run through October 22. Each night will cover different topics of law enforcement and policing, including hands-on activities by attendees, a SWAT and K-9 demonstration, and other educational and fun programs. It is open to the public and is free. The Citizen Police Academy will be held at the Clearwater Police Department, 645 Pierce St., every Wednesday night from 6 to 9 p.m. Attendees will receive a complimentary T-shirt and ball cap. The Citizen Police Academy has been featured in the national publications such as the Law and Order Magazine.
