Clearwater City Players to Present “South Pacific”

CLEARWATER – Clearwater City Players, Inc. will present its annual summer musical, Rogers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific, at Ruth Eckerd Hall, July 26, 27 and 28.

The local theatrical group, that includes a cast of 35 that will offer three peformances of the Broadway musical with full orchestra, sets and costumes. Interpreters will use sign language for the hearing impaired.

Rogers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific explores prejudice and mixed cultures, is set on two islands in the South Pacific and focuses on the relationship between Ensign Nellie Forbush, a nurse from Arkansas, and native French Planter Emile De Becque. It features classic numbers including “Bali Hai,” “Some Enchanted Evening,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair” and “There is Nothin’ Like a Dame.”

Performances will be at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $23 and are available through the Ruth Eckerd Hall box office at (727) 791-7400. Parking is free.
