Santa and Mrs. Paws (Tom Dill and Susie Barnett), at right, are pictured with SPCA Tampa Bay Family Dog Training Program volunteer Dayle Burger at the animal shelter's "Christmas in July" event on July 26. Santa is holding Ginger, a 7-month-old Basenji who was recently adopted there. Hundreds of animals are waiting for new homes at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which is located at 9099 130th Ave. North in Largo. To raise needed funds for food, shelter and medical care for homeless, abused and neglected animals, the SPCA is planning a Pet Walk at North Shore Park in St. Petersburg on Saturday, October 18. To register, call 586-3591, ext. 168.
