Camp Living Springs for Cancer Survivors Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

Applications Now Accepted to Attend Free Morton Plant Hospital Cancer Camp

CLEARWATER- It’s been a decade of laughs, tears, and stories of inspiration shared around the campfire. The nationally recognized Camp Living Springs will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year when the three-day retreat for adult cancer survivors is held Friday, October 10 through Sunday, October 12.

Hosted by Morton Plant Caring Partners, volunteers with Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, the camp is free to cancer survivors 18 years or older and is held at the 100-acre, DaySpring Conference Center in Ellenton, Florida. All transportation, food and camp accommodations are provided. Applications to participate are now being accepted until Saturday, August 15.   Camp activities will include Qi Gong, canoeing, arts and crafts, dream photos, nature walks and picking flowers for a memorial wreath to remember former campers who lost their fight with cancer.

  In 2001, Camp Living Springs was honored with the Daily Points of Light Award. Sponsored by the Points of Light Foundation, the Corporation for National Service and the Knights of Columbus, the award recognizes organizations demonstrating an innovative approach to volunteer service. Camp Living Springs was also awarded the 2001 Extraordinary Program Award from the American Society for Directors of Volunteer Services.
