Clearwater/St. Petersburg Ski and Sports Club 2008 to Hold Kick-off Meeting and Fundraising Event for Bay Pines Disabled Veteran Winter Sports Team
TREASURE ISLAND - Pinellas Counties only snow ski club will be holding its annual kickoff meeting Friday, August 22nd, at the Bilmar Beach Resort, 10650 Gulf Blvd., Treasure Island. Starting at 7 p.m., this event will showcase the club’s six winter ski trips for the upcoming ski season and kick-off its fundraising efforts for Bay Pines Disabled Veterans.
With trips planned to Snowmass, CO: Copper, CO; Winter Park, CO.; Park City, UT; Whistler, BC; and Cortina, Italy, there will be trips for all levels of skiers and at various price levels.
This season marks the 25th anniversary of the Not For Profit Clearwater/St. Pete Ski and Sports Club and the club will be looking back at old pictures and newsletters from the previous 25 years.
It is also the first of several planned fundraising events that are planned for the Bay Pines team of Disabled Veterans so they can attend the Winter Sports Clinic for America’s Disabled Veterans in Snowmass, CO., in March 2009. This unique rehab clinic is held every year but due to the cost of travel only a handful of Bay Pines veterans are able to attend. The club will be hosting a silent auction at this event to start off fundraising efforts. Donations will be accepted to add to the auction for this worthy effort to help support our vets.
Details about the club’s trips, its events and the Winter Sports Clinic can be found at the clubs web site www.snowshark.org
