Meet Barbara Stalbird, program coordinator at George C. McGough Nature Park, who is pictured with J.R., the Great Horned Owl, a permanent resident at the park located at 11901 146th St. North. J.R. eats 24 mice, 8 rats and 24 chicks per month. Rat snakes Thunder and Houdini also live on the premises. They can be found in the nature center along with aquarium fish and a number of Cuban tree frogs and marine toads. The snakes' diet consists of two mice each per month. The frogs eat 16 crickets and 16 mealworms while the toads consume 96 crickets and 72 mealworms each month.
